it’s here.

the moment we’ve all been waiting for and it’s about time.

yeasayer has finally decided to give us some more gloriousness to work with.

they have finally released the first single from their new album (dropping feb. 5th) and are calling it “ambling alp”. it’s quite a departure from the trippyfolk sound of their first album and it sounds like they have decided to incorporate a more electronic synth sound, at least on this song. however, in all of its pop glory, it’s irritatingly catchy and i can’t stop listening to it.

the lyrics are about all of the same cheesy shit we’ve heard about time after time (keeping your head up and never giving up on your dreams, blah blah blah) but they have managed to keep some of the characteristic yeasayer-esque sound while producing a song that translates very well to the mainstream music market.

the video is also pretty awesome, while very blatantly channeling sigur ros’ “gobbledigook” (posted at an earlier date her on ILIBIB… look to the archives to make the connection)… i’ll post that as well…
